INTRODUCTION
1. INTRODUCTION TO MACROMOLECULES
1.1. Formation of Macromolecules
HOW ARE MACROMOLECULES FORMED?
Macromolecules are formed through a chemical process called polymerization. This involves condensation of two or more monomeric units of either of the corresponding subunits.
Steps involved in macromolecule formation
- Joining together of two or more Monomers in a chain.
- Water molecules are then released as by products.
- The monomers share electrons and form covalent bonds.
- As more monomers join, the chain grows in size.
