Distribution of Power and the Concept of Leadership
Completion requirements
1. Introduction
The international political system is fundamentally shaped by the distribution of power among states and other global actors. Power determines whose interests prevail, how rules are made, and how global order is maintained or challenged. Closely linked to power is the concept of leadership, which refers to the ability of a state or group of states to guide, influence, or direct international outcomes. Unlike domestic political systems, the international system lacks a central authority, making leadership more complex, contested, and dependent on power relations.
