2.2. SRY Gene (Sex-determining Region of Y)

·       Located on the short arm of the Y chromosome.

·       Encodes Testis Determining Factor (TDF).

·       Initiates bipotential gonad differentiation into testes.

·       Absent in XX embryos → ovarian pathway proceeds by default.
